When you combine the best of a North Carolina production boat builder with the best of a custom pedigree Carolina boat builder the result is the Albemarle Boats 53 Spencer Edition.
Albemarle Boats and Spencer Sportfish formed a partnership to design and build this semi-custom Carolina boat. The goal was to build a boat with all of the elements characteristic of the custom Carolina styling and performance, but to do so in a production setting using molds, allowing for faster build times. The 53 hull is vacuum infused with vinylester resin and composite core, making it our strongest, yet lightest design to date. The entire boat is loaded with innovative details that will allow our customers to go further and do more.
The interior features a three stateroom, two head layout with all of the luxuries of home. The full galley contains a cooktop, microwave/convection oven, and twin refrigerator/freezer drawer units. The spacious salon boasts an “L” shaped sofa, dinette, wet bar, and home theater system. The interior cabinetry and trim molding is handcrafted from horizontal grain walnut.
The highlight of the bridge is the island helm console, which allows easy access around either side to the forward facing lounge and outboard bench seating. Just above the teak helm pod, the electronics flat is designed to house a pair of 22” or three 16” displays, which can be reverse-mounted in a matte black surface. The dash is ready to house everything necessary for competitive tournament fishing, and there is a dedicated space in the hull for Furuno Omni sonar. A custom Pipewelders half or full tower, acrylic enclosure, and a pair of Release Marine helm chairs provide comfort and weather protection for the captain.
The 160-square-foot cockpit is spacious, uncluttered, and customizable for different styles of fishing. Her 80-gallon transom fishbox passes the 5-gallon bucket test, and the wide transom door and gate facilitate boating trophy fish. The mezzanine features engine room access and five fiberglass boxes, which can be customized to house coolers, bait freezers, refrigerated drink boxes, and an ice dump. The port side cabinet is designed to accommodate a sink or grill and tackle storage. Teak decking and covering boards/coaming and Release Marine fighting chairs and rocket launchers are available options as well. The cockpit can truly be purpose -built.
Standard power is twin CAT C18 at 1150 HP diesels, and an upgrade to MTU 10V 1600 HP is available for even higher cruising speeds. Her hull design gives her the seakeeping ability that both Albemarle and Spencer have long been known for. Mechanical highlights include a 21 KW Onan generator and an innovative pump room forward of the engine room bulkhead that houses the sonar and pump equipment, keeping the engine room uncluttered. Additional available mechanical options include Seakeeper 9, water maker, and ice chipper.
