Vessel Description

JUST ARRIVED IN NEW ENGLAND - JEANNEAU 380 . CALL FOR BEST PRICE; WE WILL NOT BE UNDERSOLD.

Like her predecessors, the Sun Odyssey 380 has been entirely designed to offer her owner precious moments with friends and family, and the technical and technological options guarantee a unique cruising experience. • A hard chine continues to the bow of the boat for a more powerful and stable hull • An inverted bow for smooth entry into the water, better weight distribution, and a distinctive look • A forefoot clear of the water for less wet surface area and greater speed • Twin rudders with self-aligning rudder bearings, for greater responsiveness at the helm • A tunnel bow thruster mounted for ease of handling. • An L-shaped keel • An integrated bowsprit

The synergy between innovation and performance has made the Sun Odyssey line an incontestable success for years. The announcement of a new model, then, brings the promise of rediscovering the joys of cruising and escaping the everyday. The new Sun Odyssey 380 is born of the desire to offer sailors a unique experience and comfort on board in a model delivering even greater performance. In perfect accord with the spirit of Sun Odyssey, this sailboat integrates the best innovations of the line with a contemporary, harmonious style. The Sun Odyssey line continues to grow and remains true to its promise, that of sharing the joy of life at sea. A symbol of liberty, these sailboats invite you to extend your voyage, enabling you to experience precious moments with friends and family while benefitting from a simplified cruising experience. The 8th generation of Sun Odyssey, which already includes the Sun Odyssey 440 and 490, and most recently, the Sun Odyssey 410, is welcoming a new sailboat: the Sun Odyssey 380. This new addition is designed by Marc Lombard for the naval architecture and by Piaton Bercault & CO for the interior.

We will consider trades of Catalina, Beneteau, Hanse, Tartan, and Bavaria.

Additional Information

EXTERIOR Comfort and performance for passagemaking: • Powerful, balanced and modern hull designed by Marc Lombard, that combines a long waterline length and a hard chine for speed and comfort at sea. • Sleek deck lines, safe and ergonomic with flush hatches and integrated deck hatches. • Sail plan with a high aspect ratio. Multiple choices including: selftacking jib, Code 0, furling mast, etc. • Safe and ergonomic cockpit with lines led back to helm stations. • Innovative deck plans, with inclined side deck for an easy circulation. Relaxation and aesthetics: • Large cockpit with table (option). • Fold-down transom for easy access to the sea and sundeck (option).

The power of a boat = its ability to configure sails when the boat heels The greater the capacity to configure sails, the bigger the "power" can be: • more generous sail, • reduction of the surface area later ... and consequently the faster the boat goes... On the Sun Odyssey 380, the optimization work focused on: • a large waterline width and so a rather low bilge, • more importantly, on maintaining this large waterline width over the longest possible length. Waterline width is important, •Not only backwards (as on previous generations), •But also on the front, which is relatively new and from our latest creations on racing boats. Double benefits = increase power without the boat sinking forward when it’s heeling + offer an exceptional volume in the forward cabin The waterline length is deliberately limited, hence the strong forward rake and the risen out bow, in order to avoid that the boat • has a bad passage in strong seas, • and has a tendency to slam into the waves because of excess forward volume.

The big advantage of the bow which rises out the water = the softness of steering provided  With the bow which rises out the water, the boat "turns on itself" extremely easily which gives a real feeling of lightness of steering • Downwind: it's really very sensitive, especially when the boat goes fast, there's never a tendency for the boat to go to the luf, the bow « doesn’t engage » and allows the boat to remain « ultra stable » on the route • Upwind: the boat is light at the helm, and tacking is extremely easy • In ports: the boat rotates on itself thanks to an extremely short radius of gyration • Even with a large ship load, it keeps its « light » look thanks to the forward rake

The negative bow = the consequence of the hull shape and not a performance characteristic in itself With evolution, the ratio between emerged volume / submerged volume keeps growing > willingness and need to limit windage due to unnecessary volume Sun Odyssey 410 hull: the boat is extremely large compared to its displacement. Several choices were therefore made: • Reverse sheering: aesthetically limits the transom volume and bow height • The deck line chine: also helps to limit volume only where necessary à for power, for fittings, but not against the stability at wide angles that "doesn’t want" a deck too large.... Large waterline + reduced deck width = naturally negative bow The aesthetic effect, when combined with the essential "bowsprit" = real attraction, it energizes the silhouette
