The 58 was at the top of her class when she was introduced in 1990 with a large 175 square-foot fishing cockpit combining classic styling and quality construction always associated with the Hatteras brand. The cockpit is set up for tournament-level fishing and includes an oversized transom door, live baitwell, molded tackle centers, engine room access, and a waist-level fish box built into the transom. Heavily built on a low-deadrise hull, GM 1,350hp 16V92 diesels cruise at 26–27 knots (30 knots top).
